HÓw TÓ: Clean Your White Takkies

There’s nothing worse than brilliant white takkies losing their glow. Whether from something having spilt directly onto them, or because of natural decay, having once-white shoes turn grey-brown sucks.

Here’s your solution to restore and preserve white takkies.

You will need:

  • Ótima Spotless Shoe Scrub Brush
  • Ótima Spotless Microfibre Dishcloth
  • Ótima Canister
  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Maize meal/Corn flour

Step by Step:

Remove the laces. Using your shoe brush, brush your shoes to remove all dirt. Be sure to thoroughly clean the entire shoe.

Mix equal parts baking soda and water in your Ótima Canister until it has a paste-like consistency.

Apply a small amount of the paste to the laces and massage them gently. Rinse and then put them aside to dry.

Apply the cleaning paste to your shoe brush and gently scrub both shoes.

Rinse off your shoe brush and use dish soap and warm water to softly brush the shoes again. Don’t scrub too hard.

When you’re satisfied, lightly rinse with lukewarm water then use a damp Microfibre cloth to blot any excess solution off your shoe.

This is an extra hack that works wonders on white shoes. While your shoes are still damp, smear maize meal all over them and leave to dry in the sun.

Once completely dry, brush off the maize meal and enjoy wearing your sparking white takkies!
